Investor communications in the face of COVID-19

With economies under immense pressure and market volatility high, companies are faced with a barrage of tough questions from investors. At the same time, reporting requirements and shareholder calendars continue, requiring big decisions about how to take planned events online and to run reporting processes remotely.

Over the last decade, investor communication has increasingly moved onto digital channels. Content on the internet drives investment decisions and impacts company value. Investors use websites as research tools, as Mifid II results in less analyst coverage of many stocks. But few companies are confident about using digital channels to speak to investors, unsure about best practise and worried about JSE listings requirements.

Suddenly, there is no choice. Companies must turn to online channels to run investor events, annual general meetings and shareholder meetings, much of which has traditionally been done face to face.

Course Outline

This half-day programme focuses on how to implement an effective digital investor relations strategy that fulfils investor needs and complies with JSE requirements at a time of unprecedented turbulence. The course covers how to move investor communications online, with practically applicable guidelines. Through discussion and case study, we will discuss why digital channels are driving so many decisions in capital markets – and how to use this opportunity.
