Investor communications in the face of COVID-19
In a recent global survey of IROs, over two thirds said their workload had increased since the start of the pandemic, most said share price volatility had increased, half said there were more investor calls for investor meetings and some said they had notice an increase in hedge fund or activist activity in their shares.
Investor Relations teams are trying to satisfy investor concerns while needing to make major changes to how they operate. Companies are using digital platforms for investor events, annual general meetings and shareholder webinars. This speeds up a gradual move to digital IR, with online content driving investment and valuation decisions.
This two-hour programme focuses how to adapt your investor communications to improve efficiency and manage uncertainty during the pandemic. Through discussion and case study, we will cover
• How to implement an effective investor messaging that fulfils investor needs and
considers JSE guidance at a time of unprecedented turbulence;
• What to consider as a company in South Africa, talking to investors about possible
adverse impacts of the pandemic on company prospects;
• Why digital channels are driving so many decisions in capital markets and how to use this
opportunity through a powerful IR website, strategically used social media and
consideration of platforms your peers are using; and
• How best to take advantage of digital platforms to interact with shareholders during
virtual roadshows, analyst days and annual shareholder meetings – and what platforms
your peers are using.
