What is the role of the JSE?

Companies can raise capital by listing on the JSE. Investors can then invest in these listed companies.

The JSE serves two purposes: The first is to enable the buying and selling of shares. The second is to regulate the listed shares and the investors who use the JSE.

How does the JSE work?

The JSE offers a platform for individuals and institutions from all over the world to buy or sell any of the shares listed on the JSE. They ensure that listed shares comply with the JSE Listings Requirements (such as disclosure and reporting). They also ensure that  buy and sell transactions compy with the JSE Rules.
