CSD Appointment Policy

The JSE, as part of its licensed functions, must make provision for the clearing and settlement of transactions effected through it in its listed securities. A critical component of the settlement value chain is executed by the Central Securities Depository (CSD) appointed by the JSE, which facilitates the transfer of securities and payment of funds through its settlement system. The JSE further satisfies itself on an ongoing basis that its appointed CSD performs its functions to a suitable standard, and that settlement and operational risks are appropriately managed and mitigated.

The policy in respect of the appointment of a CSD by the JSE is available by clicking this link: CSD appointment policy
