Prescient Investment Management, a leading systematic investment company, has successfully listed its first Actively Managed Exchange Traded Fund (AMETF), the Prescient Income Provider Feeder Actively Managed ETF on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). This new listing, marking the sixth AMETF on the JSE this year, underscores the continued commitment to expanding investment opportunities in South Africa's dynamic financial market.
The Prescient Income Provider Feeder Actively Managed ETF is a multi-asset portfolio, where its investment strategy is multifaceted, focusing on a diversified portfolio of income-generating assets. These include preference and listed property shares, interest-bearing stocks, and various financial instruments, with flexibility to invest in both local and offshore markets. The performance of the AMETF is anticipated to be driven by a combination of strategies, including interest rate adjustments, yield enhancement through credit instruments, asset allocation, offshore exposure, and the use of derivatives.
“Our AMETF is specifically designed for investors seeking stable, short-to-medium-term real returns. It strategically targets the maximisation of income via a diverse range of fixed income assets, including money market instruments and bonds, to deliver on its mandate. This AMETF reflects our commitment to meet the growing demand for actively managed investment solutions within South Africa,” said Murray Anderson, Head of Retail at Prescient Investment Management.
“The exponential interest in AMETFs on the JSE is a testament to their growing appeal as an investment vehicle. With Prescient’s latest listing, we anticipate further growth and diversification in our offerings in 2024 and beyond,” said Adèle Hattingh, Business Development & Exchange Traded Products Manager at the JSE.
The market capitalisation of AMETFs on the JSE exceeds R1.7 billion and the bourse continues to demonstrate its vital role in shaping South Africa’s financial landscape and its commitment to offering a diverse and robust platform for innovative investment products.
