SA Sector categorises all listed instruments into one of three sectors, namely Resources, Financials and Industrials, based on their revenue. The SA sector classification is derived from the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB) as follows:
SA Resources – JSE listed companies that belong to ICB Sectors Oil & Gas Producers (0530) and Mining (1770)
SA Financials – JSE listed companies that belong to ICB Industry Financials (8000)
SA Industrials – All remaining companies, i.e.: JSE listed companies that do not belong to ICB Industry Financials (8000) and ICB Sectors Oil & Gas Producers (0530) and Mining (1770)
SA Sector indices split the All Share Index constituents according to their SA Sector classification.
The SWIX Free Float for the SWIX constituents is calculated by using the portion of listed share capital on the Strate register in dematerialised form.
