Quantum Foods lists on the JSE

Johannesburg, 6 October 2014. Today Quantum Foods (JSE: QFH), which was unbundled from the food and beverage producer Pioneer Foods (JSE: PFG), listed on the JSE’s Main Board.

Pioneer Foods has taken a strategic decision to focus on its branded consumer products business and this does not include primary agriculture or related businesses.

Quantum Foods is a primary agricultural business that focuses on animal feeds, eggs, broilers and related businesses on the African continent. Quantum Foods is the owner of the Nulaid egg brand, which is the strongest egg brand in South Africa. The company already operates in Zambia and Uganda and believes it has the ability to expand its egg business into Africa on a large scale.

“The JSE is delighted to welcome Quantum Foods to its Main Board. A recent report by Standard Bank forecasts the number of middle-class households in Sub-Sahara Africa will almost double in the next 15 years. This provides great opportunities for South African companies like Quantum Foods. The JSE is proud to give these companies a platform for expansion as well as the means for investors to share in this growth,” says Donna Oosthuyse: Director Capital Markets at the JSE.
