Johannesburg, 5 May 2026: In a country like South Africa where over 40 per cent of households are headed by women, access to financial knowledge and tools has a direct impact on household stability and long‑term financial security. Yet, structural and cultural factors continue to influence the extent of women’s economic participation in and access to financial markets.
The JSE has long been a champion for gender equality in South Africa, using its influence to promote more inclusive leadership and women’s participation in corporate SA and society. Since 2017, the JSE’s listing requirements have encouraged companies to be more transparent about gender representation at board level, supporting stronger governance and broader inclusion. The Exchange also leads by example, with women making up 60% of its board and 75% of its executive team - demonstrating its commitment to meaningful change.
Building on this commitment, the JSE also prioritises financial literacy as a critical lever for economic inclusion through initiatives aimed at expanding participation in South Africa’s capital markets. One of its flagship initiatives, SheInvests, is all about helping women feel more confident and informed when it comes to investing, giving them practical tools and knowledge to start building long‑term wealth on their own terms. Launched in 2018 as a small, intimate gathering, JSE SheInvests has grown into a national movement, bringing women together to learn, connect and take greater control of their financial futures.
Vuyo Lee, Chief Marketing and Corporate Affairs Officer at the JSE, said, "This growth reflects the JSE's role in driving economic inclusion and levelling the playing field for women in investments and financial markets. Hosting this year’s event at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit allows us to scale SheInvests in a meaningful way, bringing the programme to a bigger audience so we can engage, educate and empower more women than ever before. We are excited to deliver a bigger and better event and, importantly, reinforce our commitment to driving financial literacy as a critical enabler of inclusion, and supporting women in building the knowledge, confidence and capability needed to participate fully in investing and long‑term wealth creation."
The JSE SheInvests 2025 marked the largest edition of the conference to date, drawing close to 900 in‑person and online attendees. Building on this momentum, the 2026 event, set to take place on 1 August at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit under the theme Boldly Redefining Wealth, Power & Purpose, represents a significant next chapter, with more than 1000 in‑person participants expected. The scale‑up reflects the Exchange’s expanding reach and the growing appetite for platforms that support women’s financial knowledge, confidence and participation in South Africa’s economy.
SheInvests 2026 will be at the centre of a growing national conversation on wealth, power and purpose, bringing together women investors, financial professionals, corporate leaders and aspiring market participants to learn, connect and take action. Tickets are priced at R1 099, giving attendees access to a curated programme of thought‑provoking speakers, refreshments with lunch, an interactive exhibition and, for the first time ever, a networking cocktail event—making it a full‑day experience not to be missed by anyone looking to be part of the conversation.
To encourage shared participation and collective learning, discounted group tickets for bookings of five or more are now available, offering an ideal way to attend alongside friends, colleagues or investment communities and experience She Invests together.
With interest in the event continuing to build, full details for those wishing to attend SheInvests 2026, including ticket information, can be found at SheInvests.
