Johannesburg, 25 October 2024:  Trading under the alpha code, EASYAI, the AMETF aims to capture the growth opportunities emerging from the creation, adoption and deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies across various industries. The fund’s investment strategy targets companies positioned throughout the AI value chain—ranging from those developing foundational technologies to those enabling infrastructure and real-world applications. Benchmarked against the NYSE FactSet Global Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Index, this fund aims to capitalise on the growing opportunities around AI and the possible evolution and impacts on other markets, equities, and assets.

EasyEquities is one of the largest retail investment platforms in South Africa measured by registered users. EasyEquities established EasyETFs in its efforts to expand its financial services and product offerings, to include AMETFs, in an effort to reach more users and create more accessible investment opportunities.

We are very proud to once again lead the charge as the first JSE issuer and FSCA-regulated ETF management company to list an AMETF that actively identifies and invests in companies worldwide that are at the forefront of adopting AI in their businesses,” said Nicola Comninos, Managing Director of EasyETFs.

The fund strategy aims to deliver growth over the long term by focusing on companies adopting AI solutions and integrating enabling technology. The portfolio will allocate capital to companies involved in multiple stages of the AI lifecycle, including hardware, software, infrastructure and service providers supporting AI deployment.

“We believe this gives investors the opportunity to invest in the digital economy and in businesses that are forward-thinking and early adopters of AI,” said Comninos. “In line with our #MakingInvestingEasy ethos, this JSE-listed AI World AMETF is available at highly competitive fees with no minimum investment amount. Investors can  now gain exposure to businesses leading the AI revolution.”

“AMETFs are growing in popularity in South Africa. We have seen several issuances this year alone. We are excited to welcome EasyETFs to the JSEand provide a nuanced product that enables everyday investors an opportunity to participate in the AI revolution,” said Adèle Hattingh, Manager: Business Development and Exchange Traded Products at the JSE.

The listing of the EasyETFs AI World AMETF increases the number of ETFs listed on the JSE to 112 with a total market cap of R186 billion.
